Cord Cutting Guides, News, and Reviews
Streaming Service
As the streaming service wars rage on, variety is the name of the game. With Hulu’s vast on-demand library of award-winning originals and bingeable favorites, exclusive Disney Plus and ESPN Plus bundling options, and access to over 75 live channels with Hulu + Live TV, it’s safe to say Hulu is a heavy hitter among cord-cutters. But is Hulu set to be the king of the streaming ring? Let’s find out!
Hulu’s on-demand library is a TV lover’s dream. Its mix of originals, TV, and movies makes its standard service popular with cord-cutters (including us — just check out our review of on-demand Hulu). Not to mention Hulu’s exclusive FX hub with access to full seasons of your favorite FX shows and next-day viewing of the latest episodes. Check out our favorites:
In addition to the on-demand library, Hulu + Live TV subscribers get access to more than 75 live channels, including major networks, live sports, and local streams in select markets.
Hulu’s impressive selection of devices makes streaming its on-demand and live content accessible for most people. You can easily access Hulu with the below devices.
Hulu offers service options for every budget. You can choose between Hulu’s subscription video on demand (SVOD) service or Hulu + Live TV, which also includes the on-demand library.
Hulu also offers select add-on subscriptions. Here’s the lowdown on how much Hulu costs: A basic ad-supported Hulu SVOD subscription costs $6.99 per month, while an ad-free basic experience will run you $12.99 per month.
Hulu’s skinny bundle service, Hulu + Live TV (now with Disney Plus and ESPN Plus), costs $69.99 per month for the ad-supported plan. An ad-free bundle will run you $75.99 per month, but be aware that ad-free only means on-demand streaming, not live TV.
You can unlock unlimited screens (simultaneous streams) or enhanced cloud DVR features for $9.99 per month each.
You can also add premium networks to Hulu + Live TV. Adding HBO costs $14.99 per month, while Cinemax costs $9.99 per month, SHOWTIME costs $10.99 per month, and STARZ costs $8.99 per month.
Hulu discount offers aren’t common, but they pop up occasionally. Students can get Hulu’s ad-supported plan for only $1.99 a month.

One long-standing Hulu discount deal is the bundling discount: Get Disney’s three streaming services (Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN Plus) together, and you can save. The bundled price for all three is $13.99 per month.
Want to try Hulu for free? New customers can try before they buy and sign up for Hulu’s free trial month. Just make a new account and sign up for Hulu or Hulu + Live TV. Either way, you’ll get a free month of content from your new streaming service. You can binge a lot of TV in a month if you really try. Cancel at any time during the free trial period.
If you’re over the daunting contracts for cable and satellite, you’ll love Hulu’s chill approach. Hulu doesn’t believe in the whole “long-term contract” thing, unlike legacy pay TV companies.
Once you sign up for Hulu, your subscription will renew monthly. You can cancel whenever you want, and your subscription will end at the end of that month. That’s true whether you’re subscribed to regular old Hulu or the Hulu + Live TV skinny bundle service.
The best part? Unlike DIRECTV and other competitors, canceling Hulu is painless. Just log in to your account and click “Account” on the drop-down menu that appears. Once on your account page, you'll see a “Cancel your subscription” option in the bottom-right corner. Boom, done. Be sure to check out our step-by-step guide to canceling Hulu too.
For streaming junkies like us, Hulu is one of the best services for a wide range of live TV, sports, networks and originals, which is why we believe the service has earned so much digital real estate.
